As we have learned about what is S35VN steel in the previous article .

Let's continue to explore more knowledge about the difference of these two steels and specifics of M390 steel !

In General , S35VN has gain more corrosion resistance and hardness, while M390 has gain more high-strength and wear-resistant. So M390 is more difficult to machine and grind.

Now let’s learn more characteristics of M390.

M390 sharpness maintained

This question comes with a short answer: sharpness retention. M390 is so wear and tear resistant it also properly maintains the shape of the edge. As such a knife made from M390 steel will retain its sharpness for a very long time. This means you don't have to sharpen your knife as often. After all, the more often you sharpen your knife, the faster it will wear out. It is not possible to sharpen a blade over its full height: the blade will become too thick behind the edge. This means it won't be as easy to use.

Wear Resistance of M390 Steel

This metal is extremely high in wear resistance, to the point that it is one of the most durable tools you can buy. Because of the alloys used in the composition (namely the high quantity of Chromium) makes for an extremely long lasting metal. It is also more vibration resistant than other types of steel, making it perfect for manufacturing industrial strength screws (vibrations are unlikely to knock them free).
